At Desert Haven
Been at Rachel Swirsky’s house for a writing retreat with other CW people for the last three days.
Between working too much to afford the wedding, and then planning the wedding itself, you can’t imagine how restorative sitting on a porch swing and working on short stories has been. I haven’t gotten to do anything like this since Clarion West…hell, i don’t think i’ve seen this much sun since last summer, that too. I’m probably not vitamin D deficient for the first time in who knows how long
.
It’s lovely here. Ahhhhhh.

Sale! Eighth Eye to Beneath Ceaseless Skies
And the audio rights snapped up, to boot.
I can’t wait to be in Beneath Ceaseless Skies again. It’s my favorite magazine
Also — hooooly cow — i got namechecked on Jezebel.com on somebody’s Hugo ballot. I read Jezebel at work every night that it’s slow (despite the firewall cutting out half of my girlfriend Lady Gaga’s photos) — it’s a strange honor to have someone you don’t know post your name some place else that you love.
(And no wonder i love BCS, for publishing Hangman in the first place
)

In other writing news, received a rewrite request on a short story and sent it off, and have been informed I’ve gotten a story passed up to Ms. McCarthy at Realms of Fantasy. First time for that, hooray!
Um…now to be less distracted by the internet, and more worried about getting a 120k epic fantasy novel down into 1 pg of awesome.

Annnnnd…a mention in Locus never hurt anyone
.
I still love the story from that antho, because it made it possible for me to have a local reading at Borderlands that all my friends could attend. It made the intangible tangible, for one night
