Annnnnd…a mention in Locus never hurt anyone .

I still love the story from that antho, because it made it possible for me to have a local reading at Borderlands that all my friends could attend. It made the intangible tangible, for one night .

Google alerts has been my friend recently — it’s shown me that two people voted for my story “Hangman” in the Nebulas, and one person for a Hugo.

The competition for those awards is so fierce (and famous!) that really, it is indeed just an honor to even be in anyone’s minds in that way, especially since my career is just out of the gate, you know? (Yes, i’ve been writing for years and years, but i’ve only started to get traction — and good! )

I’m pretty chuffed. Here’s to next year, and the year after that, and all the ones after those!

I almost forgot to mention here my first sale of the year! “What Lies Below” to Mythos book’s Cthulhu 2012 anthology.

A) I GOT TO WRITE LOVECRAFT STUFF.

C) Leatherbound hardback book, baybee!

Okay, so while this is supposed to be the more “professional” blog…Paul and I’s engagement photos are too cool not to share.

We’re having a 1950’s science fiction themed wedding . That’s Paul’s outfit for it, minus a helmet, but unfortunately that’s not the dress i’ll be wearing the day of. I’ve picked out a 1920’s looking Princess Leia number. (The white dress, not the slave girl bikini. )

My two loves, Zoroastrianism and Placebo, come together at last! This was my 2nd week Clarion West story, military SF, revamped a bit post-crits, and I’m so pleased it sold to A&A! Other classmates have sold there, and I’ve loved reading their fiction — I’m super stoked to have made this sale .

A new day, a new theme…but not much time to play around with it!

Things are under construction here until mid December probably — I’ve acquired a nursing student to teach at work, and have picked up a lot of extra shifts this month to help them get their hours in.

I should be sleeping in now, but i’m not. (Well, technically, 8 AM is sleeping in for me, right now.)
