So as you may or may not recall, Paul and I had a 1950’s science fiction themed wedding :D. We haven’t gotten our photographer’s photos back yet, but here at some of the shots that friends took 😀
Our cake was fantastic!
My dress was gorgeous 😀
Some of our friends had to fight off alien invasions!
But mostly everyone got along 😀
You can see all the pix that we currently have here, and I’ll make another post when the super mushy pro ones hit the internet :D.
My Writers of the Future story “Cruciger” sold to Escape Pod! Hoorays!
(And on that note, between this and the sale of Alchemist’s Feather to Podcastle, I’d best be finding my shuffle sometime soon. I shouldn’t be trusted with electronics that small. Now that i’m going to the gym with my post-wedding free time, i miss it.)
I got the news on this a bit before the wedding, and was so spazzy I forgot to record it here!
I loved Beneath Ceaseless Skies’ podcast version of it — I can’t wait to hear what Podcastle has in store :D.
Our wedding was fantastic :D. I’ll share some pictures here when we get them back — but we both had a lot of fun, tons of people dressed up, and it all went by too fast :D. Now I get to be married to my best friend in the world, and the thrill of shouting “Wonder Twin Powers Activiate!” while putting our left hands out has not yet gone away.
A few days afterward I went to Vegas with girlfriends on a pre-planned girls trip for four days, then met up with Paul on the way to Niagara Falls, where our hotel room had an astounding view of the Falls. Then we drove over to Wiscon, and spent the rest of our honeymoon in lovely Madison Wisconsin with a few hundred of our closest friends ;). Travel delays kept us from getting home till today, but now the litter box is cleaned and the clothes are in the wash. A day of relaxing, a Prince of Persia matinee tomorrow, and then back to work on Friday night.
This was the first part of my bachelorette party! Indoor skydiving is amazing! I was shrieking with delight the whole time 😀
Then it was off to dinner in a limousine van and a slumber party at a friend’s house with a hot tub :D.
12 days to the wedding!
Right here! It includes my story The Alchemist’s Feather.
Boy I am in some awesome company :D.
My first international publication!
When i found out in early 09 that Ennea’s word count ranges had gone higher, I sent them Chinvat Bridge right away. (Ennea is a science fiction story section that’s printed weekly in a Greek language newspaper.) Hearing nothing for several months though, I assumed the worst, because they don’t send out rejections, only acceptances. So I sent Chinvat Bridge off to Abyss and Apex, where it sold (hoorays!) and I thought everything was finished until….
Last week Ennea emailed me asking for a bio before they ran my story! It’s been over a year since I sent it to them, heh!
I emailed Wendy and Kelly over at Abyss and Apex to make sure they were cool with things, and they are (thanks guys! :D) — so now I’ve made my first foreign language reprint sale!
Been at Rachel Swirsky’s house for a writing retreat with other CW people for the last three days.
Between working too much to afford the wedding, and then planning the wedding itself, you can’t imagine how restorative sitting on a porch swing and working on short stories has been. I haven’t gotten to do anything like this since Clarion West…hell, i don’t think i’ve seen this much sun since last summer, that too. I’m probably not vitamin D deficient for the first time in who knows how long ;).
It’s lovely here. Ahhhhhh.
And the audio rights snapped up, to boot.
I can’t wait to be in Beneath Ceaseless Skies again. It’s my favorite magazine 😀
Also — hooooly cow — i got namechecked on Jezebel.com on somebody’s Hugo ballot. I read Jezebel at work every night that it’s slow (despite the firewall cutting out half of my girlfriend Lady Gaga’s photos) — it’s a strange honor to have someone you don’t know post your name some place else that you love.
(And no wonder i love BCS, for publishing Hangman in the first place :D)
In other writing news, received a rewrite request on a short story and sent it off, and have been informed I’ve gotten a story passed up to Ms. McCarthy at Realms of Fantasy. First time for that, hooray!
Um…now to be less distracted by the internet, and more worried about getting a 120k epic fantasy novel down into 1 pg of awesome. ;).
